About Us

Who We Are

BRCA Support BC is a partnership initiative between several organizations that are passionate about the need to support British Columbians who are affected by the BRCA genes and hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes. We have an equity, access and inclusion-based philosophy and intend to serve underrepresented groups affected by the BRCA genes, including male-identified and genderqueer individuals. The partners for this project include BRCAinBC, BC Cancer’s Hereditary Cancer Program, Inspire Health, the University of British Columbia, Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, and the Diamond Family Philanthropic Fund as well as many private citizens and donors.

What We Do

Our primary focus and goal is to improve the support system for carriers of the BRCA genes, as well as other genes that increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer syndromes in British Columbia. Plain and simple. This means that we want to ensure that carriers have the tools they need to navigate the complex journey of hereditary cancer risk and hopefully, prevent cancer from being a part of their story. We work with a wide variety of partners throughout the healthcare system, including corporations, non-profits and charities, community leaders and community members because it takes a village. We welcome input and involvement from all perspectives, because health is complex and there is no one size fits all solution when it comes to managing hereditary cancer syndromes. If you are interested in our work and getting more involved, please reach out through our contact us page.
